William Lloyd Byrd

William Lloyd "Shorty" Byrd, 58, of Decatur, passed away on March 25, 2018 at his home in Decatur. 

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.

Shorty was born September 9, 1959 in Hobbs, NM to William Carroll Byrd and Eva Jo Howell. He married Betsy Harlow on May 27, 1988 in Decatur. Shorty was a lifelong cowboy and carpenter. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Byrd, of Decatur;  sons, Cody Byrd and wife Laura of Euless, Bobby Byrd and wife Charlsi of Decatur; daughter, Dakota Byrd of Decatur; mother, Eva Gentry of Decatur; grandson, Blake Byrd of Decatur; brothers, Charles Byrd of Decatur, Robie Byrd of Springdale, Arkansas; sisters, Carol Flynn of Arp, Texas, Sherri Nichols of Rockwall, Texas, Stormy Cobley of Durant, Oklahoma, and numerous other family members.

Shorty was preceded in death by father, William Carrol Byrd Jr.; grandparents, William Carrol Byrd and Charlcia Florene Byrd, and Raymond Joe Howell and Evelyn Howell; and son, William James Byrd.
