Wayne Billington, 86, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church in Bridgeport. Burial will follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Reverend Gary Sessions will officiate. Pallbearers are Don Wilson, Russell Gregg, Jodi Gregg, Paul McWilliams, Ronnie McDonald, and James McWilliams. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Dunn, Bennie Chaffin, and Bradley Boyd. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Wayne was born January 17, 1926 in Childress, Texas to Minnie (Mullennix) and Elsie (E.E.) Billington. He was a retired employee of the City of Bridgeport and former owner of Billington Grocery for twenty-two years. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church. He loved all animals and enjoyed nature, raising chickens, and visiting Branson, Missouri, which he did twenty-four times.
Wayne is survived by his wife of sixty-five years Billie (Gregg) Billington; daughter Louise Miller and husband Charles of Bridgeport; sister Lorene Stanford of Azle, Texas; grandchildren Emily Boyd and husband Kevin of Columbia, Maryland, Sandra Thornhill of Austin, Texas, Carol Thornhill and husband Jason of San Angelo, Texas, and Jason Billington of Denver, Colorado; and five great-grandchildren.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; son Don Billington; two sisters; one brother; and one grandson.
