Vera Miles

A graveside service for Vera E. Miles, 103, of New Fairview, Texas will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, Texas, officiated by Steve Samsill. Vera passed away Monday, November 9 in Bridgeport.

She was born December 28, 1916 in New River, Alabama to Bascum Hinkle ‘B.H.’ Harper and wife Maggie (McGough) Harper.

Vera grew up during the Great Depression, and witnessed many changed during her lifetime. She saw the inauguration of presidents Woodrow Wilson all the way through to Donald Trump. 

She leaves behind her son Bobby Miles of New Fairview; grandchildren Trudy Samsill and husband Steve, Amy Ramsey, Brad Chancey and wife Leah, and Katy and husband Mike Stanford; niece Cherry DeArman; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other family.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Marvin E. Miles, and daughter Cathy Chancey.
