Funeral services for Tommie Choate, 79, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, at the funeral home. Brother Melvin Castleberry will officiate.
Pallbearers will include Andrew Summersett, Chris Robinson, Bud Read, Joe Smith, Calvin Sanchez, and Ron Hunter; and Honorary Pallbearer Gary Green.
Tommie William Choate was born on April 2, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas, to T.H. and Laura (Raglin) Choate, and went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 7, 2024, in Decatur, Texas. He lived a life dedicated to hard work and service. Tommie was a machinist and had served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he proudly built bridges.
Outside of his career, he was an active member of his community. Tommie was involved with the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge #487 and the American Legion Post #569, reflecting his commitment to service and brotherhood.
Tommie is preceded in death by his wife Donna Choate; parents T.H. and Laura Choate; and sister Esther Long.
Those left to cherish Tommie’s memory are his daughter, Charli Choate Scheller of Paradise; son, Aaron Choate and wife Misty of Paradise; stepson, Richie Dalton and wife Michelle of Wichita Falls; stepdaughter, Misti Sherman of Fort Worth; sister, Bertha Bright and husband Earl of Granbury; grandchildren, Candice McMeen and husband Cole, Tyler Scheller, Bailey Kittrell and husband Chance, Ethan Choate and wife Danielle, Briar Choate and fiancé Ciera Brock; step-grandchildren, James Dalton, Alysia Dalton, Nicole Migot, Britlyn Dalton, and Cline Dalton; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
