Shelly René Ashmore, 64, of Boyd, Texas, went to her home in Heaven on May 24, 2024. Her funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Boyd on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Boyd Cemetery. A luncheon will be hosted by the church following the graveside committal service. Pastors David Slimp and Mark Autry will officiate. Pallbearers will include Zachary Ashmore, Carson Johnnene, Jacob Van Der Schans, Ricky Mannin, Mack Harden and Andrew Cearley. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the church.
Born May 26, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Warren and Wanda Saulter, René was united in marriage to Gene Ashmore on April 3, 1987, and would cherish that bond for the next 32 years until Gene's passing in July 2019. She had a servant's heart, exemplified by her exceptional dedication to the Wise Area Relief Mission, where René acted as director for almost 20 years -- offering compassion and aid to any family in Wise, Jack, and Montague counties who, for no single reason, suffered from financial or other setbacks. She was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Boyd, where René taught children's Sunday school, as well as Vacation Bible School during the summer months. She was a priceless presence in the lives of both her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
René is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene, whose remains will be laid to rest alongside her.
Those left behind to cherish and love her in memory are her daughter Brandy Pierce of Boyd; son Zachary Ashmore of Boyd; grandchildren Braylyn Van Der Schans and husband Jacob Van Der Schans, Carson Johnnene, Ray Ann Johnnene, Jasmine Ashmore, Garion Ashmore, and Jansen Ashmore; and her most recently born and only great-grandchild, Josephine Rene Van Der Schans; her brother Wade Saulter and wife Jill; and numerous cousins, relations and a host of friends.
