Sharon Verita Hawkins, 67, left this earth early Wednesday June 18th, 2014. She was a resident at Senior Care in Bridgeport, Texas for the last 3 years. Although no public memorial will be held, Verita will be remembered by family & friends who loved her.
Verita was born on July 11, 1946 in Quanah, Texas to Klina Monette (Underwood) and Edward Eldo Fincher. As a 1964 graduate of Quanah High School, Verita was awarded a four year music scholarship to West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas where she was a voice major. She received her bachelor of science degree in English & elementary education from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls and entered the teaching field as an educator in 1970 when she joined the faculty of the Quanah school system teaching fifth & sixth grades. As director of the Quanah Music Lovers Club, she was known for her perfect pitch & piano skills. Verita was also a flying student and received her solo certification from Hawkins Aircraft in Quanah in l968. She loved reading her Bible, music, teaching & spending time with her family.
Verita is survived by her sister and her husband Edwenna & Richard Earnheart of New Mexico; her daughter & son-in-law, Renee & Eric Hooper of Bridgeport; and seven grandchildren, Brilliana, Silas, Killian, & Johan Preston and Emily, Ashley & Makenna Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her son, Murry Justin Hawkins, and her parents.
