Sandra Whitehead

Graveside services for Sandra Whitehead, 84, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Brother Gary Demmitt will officiate.

Pallbearers will include Shawn James, Rickey Shephard, Eric Shephard, JC Goodman, Haiden Shephard, and Brandon Moore.

Sandra (Powers) Whitehead was born on February 1, 1940, in Sacramento, California, to Raymond and Frankie (Dorman) Powers, and peacefully passed away on December 5, 2024, in Paradise, Texas. She married Audrey Hill Whitehead May 1, 1976, in Vineland, Alabama, and was happily married for many years until his passing. Sandra had a passion for sewing and crocheting, skills she often shared with her family. She also loved going to dirt track races and always looked forward to spending time with family, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. 

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Audrey Whitehead of Paradise, Texas; parents, Raymond and Frankie Powers of Bowie, Texas; sisters, Deana Powers of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Raynell Olvier of Oklahoma; grandson, Jimmy Thompson of Vineland, Alabama; and stepson, Dwayne Whitehead of Alabama. 

Those left to cherish Sandra’s memory are her sons, James R. Thompson and wife Judy and James C. Thompson and wife Keri; daughters, Sharon J. James and husband Don and Cristal A. Broussard and husband Ruben; stepdaughter, Cindy Cantrell; sisters, Peggy Bishop and husband John and Cathey Edgington; grandchildren, Jamie King and husband Roy, Shawn James and wife Jennifer, Tara Newton and husband Blaine, James Calvin Goodman, Andrea Landreth and husband Joel, Rickey Shephard and wife Lauren, Eric Shephard and wife Megan, Brandon Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, Richard Cantrell, Pamela Eckhoff, Latasha Whitehead, and Stephanie Whitehead; and a host of friends and family.
