Sam Maurice "Reece" Landers

Funeral services for Sam Maurice "Reece" Landers, 86, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church. Brother Gary Demmitt will officiate.

Pallbearers will include James Culpepper, Ryan Culpepper, Matt Remington, Reece Remington, Jamie Newbury, and Jeff Green.

Sam Maurice “Reece” Landers was born March 13, 1939, in Gainesville, Texas, to Sam and Opal (Kuykendall) Landers, and peacefully passed away on April 17, 2025, in Bridgeport, Texas.

On July 25, 1959, he married Berniece (Tims) Landers in Bowie, Texas. Their love and partnership were an inspiration to those around them.

Reece enjoyed a fulfilling career at TXU before retiring, after which he devoted much of his time to his passion for working on old cars and trucks.

Though he is no longer with us, Reece's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Reece is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Opal Landers of Bowie, and daughter Karla Hatten of Gainesville.

Those left to cherish Reece’s memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Berniece Landers; daughters, Karen Culpepper and husband James, and Samantha Remington and husband Matt; brother, Randy Landers and wife Sharon; sister, Robbie Lyons; grandchildren, Audrea, Rachel, and Ricky Hatten, Austin Bell, Ryan, Katie, and Jordan Culpepper, and Reece and Saige Remington; and a host of friends.
