Rudy Darilek

A memorial mass for Rudy Augustine Darilek, 86, of Bridgeport, Texas will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at St John’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport, with Father Thomas Dsouza presiding. He passed away on Monday, August 1 in Decatur, Texas. Rudy was born November 30, 1929 in Megargel, Texas to Rudolph A. and Pauline (Marek) Darilek. He graduated high school before joining the US Army and served in the occupation forces of Korea in World War II. He returned home to become a heavy equipment operator. He was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St John’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport. He was a life member of VFW Post 4819 in West, Texas. He was also a member of the SPJST fraternal organization in Temple, Texas. Rudy loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was very proud of his Czech heritage. Rudy is survived by his wife Mary (Kreiter) Darilek; son Stephen and wife Derinda of Bridgeport; sister Mary Hrncirik and husband Joe of Seymour, Texas; grandchildren Landon Darilek and Denea Griggs; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial donations in honor of Rudy can be made to St John’s Catholic Church.
