Services for Ruby (Abernathy) Partin, 103, of Chico, Texas will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico, officiated by Reverend Mike Miller. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. Pallbearers are grandsons Tim Partin, Kelly Gilbert, Kevin Partin, Justin Partin, Will Partin, and great-grandson Tyler Wier. Ruby passed away November 12, 2018 in Decatur, Texas.
Ruby was born in Quinlan, Texas on December 12, 1914 to John Anthony and Fannie Adelia (Stockton) Abernathy. She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth January 1934, where she played basketball and volleyball.
She married Fred Partin in February 1934. They lived in Fort Worth and Keller.
All her children graduated from Keller High School. Ruby led her family by example of good character, fairness, and faith.
The couple moved to Chico in 1970 where they co-owned Chico Dry Goods Store.
Ruby is survived by sons Fred L. Partin Jr. and wife June of Euless, Texas, Walt Partin and wife Brenda of Chico, and John Partin and wife Nelda of Van Alstyne, Texas; daughter Gerry Gilbert of Llano, Texas, 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred L. Partin, siblings Vernon Abernathy, Clyde Abernathy, Ruth Butler, and Mary Vance, and son-in-law Richard Gilbert.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Morris Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 504, Chico, Texas 76431, or a charity of your choice.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
