Robert Sibley Tate, 76, of Crafton, Texas passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at home. Funeral services are at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in the Chapel at Chancellor and Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur, Texas. Burial will be in Crafton Cemetery and Tom Merritt will officiate. Pallbearers are Tony Woods, Tim Oats, Austin Tate, Tracy Troxell, Brandon Troxell, and James Cash. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Troxell, Robert Troxell, and Cudberto Castillo. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
Robert was born October 16, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas to Velma Mae (Sibley) and Jack Tate. He married Linda Darlene Houk on February 21, 1965 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was a dairy farmer who lived in Haslet, Texas for twenty-two years and Crafton for twenty years. Robert enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, going to casinos, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teaching them to hunt.
He is survived by his wife Linda; sons Mark Allen Tate and wife Carrie of Chico, Texas and Robert Lynn Tate of Chico; grandsons Chris Tate and Austin Tate and wife Shaley; granddaughters Corey Tate, Katie Tate, and Casey Plummer and husband Luke; great-granddaughter Cooper Tate; great-grandson Lane Plummer; and sister Jane Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jackie Tate.
