Graveside services for Robert “Bob” Gayan, 89, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 11 am Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Cottondale Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, October 16, 2023, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Pastor Charles Pugh will be officiating.
Bob was born September 26, 1934, in Bessemer, Michigan, to Louis Rickaby and Lillian Groenen. After serving his country in the United States Army, and being stationed in Fort Worth, Texas, Bob dedicated his career to public service as a motorcycle police officer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His commitment to protecting others and ensuring the safety of his community was unwavering throughout his years of service. Upon leaving his public safety career, Bob embarked on a new chapter in his life by joining Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas, where he eventually retired.
Outside of work, Bob had a variety of interests that he pursued with passion. He possessed an exceptional talent for woodworking and took great pleasure in using this skill to repair furniture for others. He also enjoyed challenging himself with crossword puzzles and making banks out of old post office box doors.
Bob will also be remembered for his vibrant personality. He was a beloved member of the “breakfast club” at the Finish Line in Paradise and later at Brandi's in Bridgeport. This meeting allowed him to form lasting friendships while being a part of great conversations and enjoying delicious food. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Those left to cherish Bob’s memory are his son Michael Gayan; daughter Dianna Banda; grandchildren Melanie, Mindy, Misty, Marcy, Steven, Staci, and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Ty, Colby, Carsyn, Emma, Lana, Brylei, Kooper, Keegan, Kolter, Kaylor, Cash, Levi, Nate, and Reese.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 50 years Donna Gayan; sons Dale and Steven Gayan; and brother Richard Gayan.
