Anita “Pauline” Long of Bridgeport was born February 10, 1926 in Archer City, Texas to Paul and Annie Wright. Pauline passed away June 28, 2016 in Decatur after a short illness. She was 90 years old. Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30 from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Burial will be in Truce Cemetery in Jack County. Pauline enjoyed gardening, painting and tending to her rose bushes. She also loved to dance and would spend many hours cutting a rug at the Senior Citizens Club in Springtown. Pauline married the love of her life, Luther J Long, many knew him as OC or Smiley, on February 7, 1946. They were married for 47 years and were active members of The Lost Battalion. She was also a member of several military organizations, including: The American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart and The American Ex-Prisoner of War. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luther, her brother, Robert Wright of Graham, and two sisters, Louise Joyce of Graham and Frances Ward of Breckenridge. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Cagle of Denton; daughters: Janis Cummings of Azle; Paula Anderson and husband, Robert of Fort Worth; grandchildren: Michael Lamar and wife, Cindy of Jacksboro; Timothy Cummings and wife, Gaylynn of Fort Worth; Thomas Cummings and wife, Angie of Fort Worth; Debbie Perry of Rhome; Karen Stegall and husband, Jermaine of Burbank, CA; Robyn James and husband, Chris of Encino, CA; great-grandchildren: Tori Lamar, Ty Lamar, Nathan Cummings, Nicholas Cummings, Noah Cummings, Hayden Cummings, Luke Cummings, Brooklyn Taaffe, Joshua Perry, Maceo Stegall and Mayla Stegall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lost Battalion Room in Decatur through the Wise County Historical Museum, or to the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.
