Paula Jean Kersten

Paula Jean Kersten, age 82, of Runaway Bay, Texas, beloved wife and mother, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Weatherford, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 16 in St. Johns Catholic Church in Bridgeport. A rosary service will be Friday, September 15 at 7:00 pm., also at the church, officiated by Father Roque Gonsalves.

Paula was born April 22, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Howard Paul and Amelia Martha (Lama) Siehl. On January 30, 1954, she married Lawrence E. Kersten in Detroit. The couple were married for 61 years, until his passing in 2015.

She was a member of the Runaway Bay City Council. Paula worked for the hospital auxiliary at Wise Health System in Decatur as a volunteer for several years. She was also involved with the golf association in Runaway Bay, the Red Hat Society, and numerous other organizations throughout her lifetime.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Majka and Nurse Chrisy for their attentiveness to Mom while under their care. And a special thanks also goes to Nurse Maria Dorado for her invaluable input and help.

She was the beloved mother of Pamela Green and husband Denis of San Marcos, Texas, Laura Belcher and husband Jack of Paradise, Texas, Lisa Ellerbrook of Weatherford, Texas, and Loren Kersten and wife Tana of Haslet, Texas. She was also the proud grandmother of Annaleah, Jessica, Kristen, William, Kyle, Kaitlynn, Emily, Danie, and Kolby; and great-grandmother of Keegan, Abigail, Leeland, Mason, Brock, Allie, Grayson, Evelyn, and Logan.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Larry Kersten.
