Funeral for Orrie Lee “Coach” Harris, 82 of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10th, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Chico Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, May 9 from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Mr. Harris died Friday, May 6, 2016 in Decatur. Orrie was born February 19, 1934 in Corsicana, Texas to Lawrence Taylor Harris and Edith Louise (Anderson) Harris. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1951. He attended Navarro Junior College on a golf scholarship and completed his teaching degree at the University of North Texas in 1953. He received his masters degree and began teaching and coaching at Keller High School in 1954. He was a longtime member of the Chico Lions Club and a member of the Chico United Methodist Men. He married Mary Lu Syms on January 22, 1955. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, a brother Carl Glen Harris, step-sister Jo Ann Kilcrease and grandchild Shannon Hofacket. Survivors include his sister Darla Jo Sumners of Seagoville, brother-in-law George Adrian Syms and wife Mary Lee of Houston, daughter Lu Lane Dutton and husband Marvin of Duncan, Oklahoma, son Coit Lee Harris and wife Melanie of Chico, son Jay Allen Harris and wife Neysa of Denton, and daughter Robin Suzanne Barnes and husband Don of Sunset. Grandchildren are Allen Dutton and wife Rebecca, Cheryl Dutton, Sequitta Thomasson, Jeffrey Wiley and wife Michelle, Jason Barnes and wife Kristin, Eric Wiley and wife Angela, Heath Barnes and wife Patience, Jon Harris, MD and wife Kirsten, Jessica Mowery and husband Derrick, Kimberly Wiley and fiancé Jake Crawford, Taylor Adams Chandler and husband Daniel, Shiloh Hofacket and Sara Harris. Great-Grandchildren are Jason Jetton and wife Maggie and Curtis Jetton, Marxton Dutton, Cassie and Seth Thomasson, C.D., Evan and Kyle Dutton, Kira, Ella, and Chase Wiley, Cadence and Tessa Wiley, Taylor Etter, Addison and Cooper Barnes, Asher and Kamper Barnes, William and Reese Chandler, Logan and Lilly Mowery and sibling due December, and Kenley Harris arriving in July. Great-Great Grandchildren are Patricia, Jason Jr. and Jackson Jetton, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jason Barnes, Heath Barnes, Daniel Chandler, Eric Wiley, Jon Harris and Derrick Mowrey. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Dutton and Jeffrey Wiley.
