Ophelia (Reyes) Garcia was born on May 18, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas, to Guillermo and Sophia (Lopez) Reyes, and peacefully passed away on February 19, 2025, in Lewisville, Texas. She was 92 years old. Ophelia graduated from Loraine High School in 1952. She had a love for books and puzzles, and she cherished her time at school and in the workforce.
Ophelia met her husband while working at a department store in Colorado City, Texas. Their whirlwind romance blossomed into a marriage that lasted 61 years. Throughout their life together, Ophelia was a steadfast supporter of her husband, championing his dream of running a successful trucking business. She was instrumental in maintaining detailed records for the business and was known for her remarkable organizational skills.
Family was at the heart of Ophelia's world. She drove her children to school, extracurricular activities, and sporting events, ensuring they had a busy but fulfilling childhood. She savored spending her later years surrounded by her children and getting to know her grandchildren. A true fan of home-cooked meals, she also enjoyed sewing, often creating matching dresses for her daughters.
Ophelia loved her morning coffee and treated herself to a Coke at least once daily. She was an all-around sports fan, passionately supporting the Dallas Cowboys, along with cheering for basketball, golf, soccer, and wrestling. She had a special place in her heart for Wheel of Fortune, which she loved to watch. Her family treasures the many sweet moments they shared with her, feeling fortunate and blessed for the time they spent together.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Enrique Garcia, III of Lewisville, Texas; daughters, Terry Gannon and husband Tom of Denton, Texas, and Estelle Williams and husband Wayne of Savannah, Texas; grandchildren, Bradly McBride and wife Katrinia, Erick McBride, Christine Gannon, and Kyle Gannon and wife Chanthou; great-grandchildren, Rebecca McBride, Riley McBride, Reese McBride, and Trinity Williams; and a host of friends.
