Funeral services for Opal “Bunnia” Phillips, 94, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. David Mosley will officiate.
Pallbearers will include Konner Hazel, Roan Massey, Brayden Baskin, Eric O’Dell, Pace Copeland, and Justin Janacek.
Opal “Bunnia” (O’Dell) Phillips was born on June 11, 1930, in Bridgeport, Texas, to Lon and Ester (Early) O’Dell, and peacefully passed away March 26, 2025, in Port Neches, Texas.
Bunnia lived a full life, dedicating over 20 years as a dental assistant for Dr. Leo Selz before her retirement. She was a proud graduate of Bridgeport High School, and a beloved member of the community. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
Bunnia found great joy in her family, delighting in time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her cherished dogs. Her warmth and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Clinton Loyd Phillips; parents, Lon and Ester O’Dell; daughter, Vonda Lynn Phillips of Bridgeport; brothers, Melvin O’Dell and wife Imogene of Bridgeport, Jim O’Dell and wife Inez of Amarillo, and Charles O’Dell and wife Carla of Bridgeport; sisters, Bertha Ford and husband Kelly of Decatur, Dorthy (Dean) Boggs of Bridgeport, and Lonnie Mae O’Dell of Bridgeport.
Those left to cherish Bunnia’s memory are her son, Clinton Darrell “C.D.” Phillips and wife Sherry of Port Neches; sisters, Annie Ryan of Boyd, and Ruby Stewart and husband Roy of Alamogordo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Tresha Massey, Tracy Baskin, Kayce Hazel, Michael (Pace) Copeland, Kyle Copeland, and Sandi Janack; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
