It is with great sadness that the family of Monte Dale Fenton of Bridgeport, Texas announces his passing on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 63. He was born March 30, 1955 in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Monte will be remembered by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Kim, and his children A.J. Abrantes and husband Luke of Bridgeport, and D’Anna Wood and husband Jacob of Cottondale, Texas.
Although he was named Monte at birth, his favorite name to be called was Poppy. He will be lovingly remembered by granddaughters Kyli Wood (who named him), Kenzli Wood, and Ayla Abrantes; his brothers Ralph F. Fenton and wife Rita of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Gary Fenton and wife Brenda of Vici, Oklahoma; sisters-in-love Jo Catlin and husband Tom of Buffalo, Oklahoma, and Kay Bowen and husband Bill Green of Duncan, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents Ralph L. and Iantha ‘Annie’ (Winters) Fenton, and father and mother-in-law Bob and Nita Bowen.
Monte spent his career as an oilfield salesman. Three years ago, however, he became a pharmacy driver for Solaris Hospice. His caring nature and compassion touched many through his service with Solaris.
His favorite hobby was talking. Monte was the kind of man who never met a stranger. He could be at the gas station and make friends with the guy across from him before they finished fueling.
When not working, he preferred being outdoors, gardening or tinkering with cars. The neighbors have expressed how much they’ll miss seeing Monte outside.
A funeral service in memory of Monte will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:00 am at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise, Texas, officiated by Pastor Rocky Johnson and Kevin Fenton. Burial will follow in Cottondale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Luke Abrantes, Jacob Wood, Craig Fenton, David Fenton, Kevin Fenton, Matt Stufflebean, Keith Catlin, and Brandon Davidson. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Green and Tom Catlin. Visitation will be Sunday, November 18 from 4-6 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
