Monnie "B.T." Hicks

A Celebration of Life for Monnie “B.T.” Hicks, 71, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Community Church in Decatur. Pastor Chris Wann will officiate.

Monnie "B.T." Hicks was born on September 9, 1953, in Dalhart, Texas, to Marvin Lester and Eva (Conger) Hicks, and passed away on March 20, 2025, in Paradise, Texas, after a long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, cherished by those who knew him.

B.T. had a long and dedicated career as a truck driver, retiring in 2020 after 48 years on the road. He took great pride in obtaining his GED in January of 1989, which highlighted his determination and commitment to bettering himself. Although he attended Grapevine High School, it was his perseverance that truly defined his educational journey.

His passions included collecting model trucks and riding his motorcycle. B.T. loved to tinker in what he affectionately called his "junk empire," where he would spend hours finding joy in his collections. He had a gift for storytelling too, often sharing tales from his driving days with anyone who would listen, captivating friends and family alike.

B.T. is remembered fondly for the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. He passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 52 years, Pamela, and dog, Luke, by his side. His legacy of love and laughter will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

B.T. is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eva Hicks of Roanoke and brothers, Roy Ray Hicks of Grapevine and Keith Alton Hicks of Boyd.

Those left to cherish B.T.” s memory are his wife, Pamela Jean (Freestone) Hicks; daughters, Misty Beaty and husband Michael of Springtown and Samantha Crowder and husband Judd of Jacksboro; sisters, Bessie Mizzell of Roanoke and Ruby Dennis of Irving; grandchildren, Jedd Crowder, Shannon Beaty, and Olivia Crowder; his faithful dogs, Luke and Twinkle; and a host of friends.
