Melvin Ray Jackson

Services for Melvin Ray ‘Mel’ Jackson, 84, of Boyd, Texas will be 2:30 pm, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora, Texas, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Withers. Burial will follow in Aurora Cemetery. Pallbearers are Patrick Jackson, Dewayne Lee, Cameron Sides, Steven Slocum, Kristopher Howe, and Matthew Tillery. Visitation will be Friday, August 17 from 6-8 pm, also at the church.

Mel was born September 17, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas to Leonard and Eula Faye (Bennett) Jackson. Mel was a Baptist. He was also a Mason and belonged to the Boyd Lodge.

Because Mel loved to talk, he was the type of man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed bowling, Texas Rangers’ baseball, and spending time with his large family.

Mel leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Norma (Hass) Jackson; children Ricky and Donna Hass, Charlcie and Jimmy Lewis, Gina and Dale Darter, Edie Lieblang, Gloria and John Hennessee, Serena Howe, Missi Jackson, and Patrick Jackson; 23 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
