Mary Cowart

Mary Jo Willings Cowart went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2015, at the age of 96. She was born on October 10, 1919, in Waco, Texas to Fred and Hattie Willings. She enjoyed singing in the choir, reading, writing poems, teaching Sunday School, and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alvord, Texas. She married David Ullie Cowart on June 16, 1934, in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1973. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Hardwick of Alvord, Texas; sons, Daniel Curtis Cowart of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael David Cowart and wife Sharon Diann Cowart of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Virginia Storm and Kathleen Plummer; brother, Fred Willings, Jr; son, Benjamin Frederick Cowart; one grandson; and one great grandson. Visitation is scheduled 6-8 PM Friday, December 18, 2015, at Chancellor and Jones Family Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Henson Cemetery in Red Springs, Texas. Larry McMullen will officiate.
