Funeral Mass for Martina (Ortiz) Alvarez, 70, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, November 14, at the funeral home, with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Reverend Sergio Diaz will officiate.
Martina (Ortiz) Alvarez was born on November 12, 1954, to Santos and Margarita (Hernandez) Ortiz, in San Pedro Apulco Zacatecas, Mexico, and peacefully went to be with our Lord on November 12, 2024, her 70th birthday.
Martina dedicated a significant part of her life to serving others. She retired from Wise Health System hospital, where she worked as a custodian. Martina had been a beloved figure in the Bridgeport community since 1978 and was actively involved in several memberships and organizations that reflected her compassionate nature and dedication to her faith. She was a cherished member of San Miguel, Gropo Cursillo, Ministerro Hispano de la Diocesis, Heijas del Rey, Cominemos Jontos, and Escuela Dominical para Niños. Her contributions to these groups played a significant role in fostering community spirit and support among families. Martina will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her generosity and love.
Martina is preceded in death by her parents Santos and Margarita Ortiz of Mexico; brothers Rosendo and Gomesindo Ortiz; and sister Maria Ortiz de Martinez of Mexico.
Those left to cherish Martina’s memory are her loving husband of 45 years Humberto Alvarez; sons Salvador Alvarez and wife Prescilla of Azle and Gustavo Alvarez and wife Shanna of Midland; daughter Magdalena Alvarez and boyfriend Jose Hernandez of Keller; sisters Juana Chavez and husband Valentin of Bridgeport and Rosenda Ortiz de Ramirez of Teocaltiche, Jalisco; grandchildren Ramiro Alvarez of Norman, Oklahoma, Grayson Minica of Midland, Alessandra and Karina Carr of Keller, Christian and Adrian Alvarez of Midland; and a host of family and friends.
La misa fúnebre de Martina (Ortiz) Álvarez, de 70 años, de Bridgeport, Texas, se llevará a cabo a las 11 a.m. el viernes 15 de noviembre de 2024 en la funeraria familiar Hudson & Torres en Bridgeport. El velorio se llevará a cabo de 5 a 9 p.m. el jueves 14 de noviembre en la funeraria, con un rosario a partir de las 6 p.m. Oficiará el reverendo Sergio Díaz.
Martina (Ortiz) Álvarez nació el 12 de noviembre de 1954, hija de Santos y Margarita (Hernández) Ortiz, en San Pedro Apulco Zacatecas, México, y se fue pacíficamente a estar con nuestro Señor el 12 de noviembre de 2024, día de su cumpleaños número 70.
Martina dedicó una parte importante de su vida a servir a los demás. Se retiró del hospital Wise Health System, donde trabajó como conserje. Martina había sido una figura querida en la comunidad de Bridgeport desde 1978 y participaba activamente en varias membresías y organizaciones que reflejaban su naturaleza compasiva y su dedicación a su fe. Fue miembro muy apreciado de San Miguel, Gropo Cursillo, Ministerro Hispano de la Diocesis, Heijas del Rey, Cominemos Jontos y la Escuela Dominical para Niños. Sus contribuciones a estos grupos jugaron un papel importante en el fomento del espíritu comunitario y el apoyo entre las familias. Martina será recordada con cariño por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Su espíritu continuará inspirando a aquellos que fueron tocados por su generosidad y amor.
A Martina le preceden en la muerte sus padres Santos y Margarita Ortiz de México; los hermanos Rosendo y Gomesindo Ortiz; y la hermana María Ortiz de Martínez, de México.
Los que quedan para atesorar la memoria de Martina son su amado esposo de 45 años, Humberto Álvarez; hijos, Salvador Álvarez y su esposa Prescilla de Azle y Gustavo Álvarez y su esposa Shanna de Midland; su hija Magdalena Álvarez y su novio José Hernández de Keller; las hermanas Juana Chávez y su esposo Valentín de Bridgeport y Rosenda Ortiz de Ramírez de Teocaltiche, Jalisco; nietos Ramiro Álvarez de Norman, Oklahoma, Grayson Minica de Midland, Alessandra y Karina Carr de Keller, Christian y Adrián Álvarez de Midland; y una gran cantidad de familiares y amigos.
