Marie Read

Marie Read, 95, of Paradise, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Decatur. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 11, 2012, in Paradise Cemetery. Pastor Patti Mahaffey will officiate. Marie's great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Paradise United Methodist Church. Marie was born November 22, 1916, in Wise County, Texas to Trula (Lampkin) and John C. Moody. She married Harold D. Reed in 1937, who passed away March 8, 1983. She was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church. She enjoyed travel, vegetable gardening, and playing 42 and dominoes. She worked hard and enjoyed her work as an upholsterer. Marie is survived by her sons Harold Read and wife Gail and Truman Read and wife Sharon, all of Chico, Texas; grandchildren Darren Read and wife Mandy of Saginaw, Texas, Crystal Rogers of Paradise, Ginger Arthur and husband Anthony of Paradise, Reggie Read and wife Shellie of Bridgeport, Randy Read and wife Christi of Nemo, Texas; and great-grandchildren Aron and Megan Arthur, Luke Rogers, and Caleb, Savannah, Reese, Ryhan and Dax Read. She is preceded in death by her parents.
