Funeral Mass for Margaret Smith, 85, of Paradise will be Saturday, February 19 at 2:00 PM at St John’s Catholic Church, Bridgeport Tx, officiated by Father Reehan Antony. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 6–8 PM, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Rosary at 7:30 PM. Margaret passed away February 15, 2022 in Decatur.
Margaret was born September 5, 1936 to Jesse Tackel and Mary Butler Tackel in Decatur Tx. She married Derrell Smith in 1956 and celebrated many wonderful years together. Margaret worked for several years at Golden Years Retreat in Bridgeport as a medication aide. Her greatest work was that of a homemaker. She was one of the first volunteers for Paradise Schools, she loved her church family and even had her own designated parking place at the church. Of the five founding families of St. John’s Catholic Church, she was the last survivor of the group.
She is survived by her husband, Derrell Smith; daughters, Patti Seckman & husband Cole of Haslet, Pam Martin & Jim Stegman of Paradise, Monica Munn & husband Bret of Paradise, son; Kyle Smith of Bridgeport, sister; Janie Holt of Paradise, sister in laws Emilie Tackel of Paradise, Sue McDuff & husband Johny of Paradise; brother in law, Bill Smith of Greenville, SC, grandchildren, Candice Yates & husband Jarrod of Prosper, Stephanie Winters of Paradise, John Martin & wife Misty of Holliday, Leah Brazier of Haslet, Angela Munn of Paradise, Felica Lamb & husband Adam of Paradise, John Seckman & wife Krystal of Pottsboro, Chris Stegman & wife Kylie of Paradise, Michael Stegman of Fort Worth; great grandchildren, Ally, Berkley, Annie, Everley, Ashlyn, Ayden, Bailee, Cash, Adilyn, Kaydn, Syler, and Sloane; great great grandson, Hudsyn; dear friend Anita Chapman; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by parents; sister, Anna Stidham; brothers, James, Joe, and John Tackel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
