Kemper Fall Walker, 75, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Decatur following a brief illness.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening, October 28, 4-6 pm, at Jones Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Funeral services will be conducted at Ascension and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 5094 Hwy 380 near Bridgeport, with Father DeWayne Adams officiating on Monday October 29th at 2 pm.
Kemper was born October 21, 1937, in Houston, to Ruth Nichols Fall and Fredric Fall.
She met the love of her life, Richard, while both were working at Christie, Mitchell & Mitchell in Houston. They married on June 25, 1960. They moved to Bridgeport in 1967, where they resided until each of their deaths.
Kemper was a business major at Texas Tech College in Lubbock where, among other activities, she was a member of Delta Gamma.
Kemper was active in a variety of social, community, and church-related activities in Bridgeport, including the Bridgeport Civic Club, Bridgeport Garden Club and Daughters of the King.
The Walkers joined St. Mark’s Episcopal Church shortly after moving to Bridgeport, where she and Richard were recognized as the members with the longest ties to the original congregation. She was instrumental in combining the congregations of Ascension Episcopal Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church into one church.
Kemper was well known for her elegance and refined manner which resonated throughout her lifetime. Her grandchildren lovingly chided her for her refined manner, while striving to imitate her grace.
She is survived by daughter Jennifer Walker of Bridgeport; daughter Laura Craft and her husband Larry of Katy; son Wise County Sheriff David Walker and his wife Christi of Bridgeport; her sister, Sally Sanders of Houston. She is also survived by grandchildren Forrest Walker and wife Heather of Cisco; Jordan and Taylor Craft of Katy; and Tyler Arozamena and Addison Walker of Bridgeport; and great grand-child “Baby 2012”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N. Walker; by her parents, Ruth Fall and Fredric Fall; and by a sister, Rosanna Fall Glass.
Members of the Wise County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Rick Armstrong, Doug Bridwell, Tony Caruthers, Glenn Hale, Don Nimmo, and Dr. Jon Walker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice.
