Services for Katie Meral Lovejoy, 60, of Chico, Texas will be 3:00 pm Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas, officiated by Pastor Todd Blair. Burial will follow in Jonestown Cemetery, northwest of Decatur, Texas. Pallbearers are Adam Messick, Cole Messick, Colton Walker, Mike Swan, Nathan Messick, Steve Bogel, J.K. Cortez, and honorary pallbearer T.J. Lovejoy. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, September 25, also at the funeral home. Katie passed away Tuesday night, September 22 in Bridgeport, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in Glendale, California on December 16, 1959 to Marvin Wallace Ford and wife Velma Jean (Ham) Ford. On July 15, 2000 Katie married Willie Lovejoy in Chico.
Katie loved to travel, and would often take crossroad trips with husband Willie. She also enjoyed singing wherever and whenever possible, from karaoke bars to rodeos.
She leaves behind her husband of 20 years, Willie Lovejoy of Chico; mother Velma Jean Ford of Springtown, Texas; daughters Amberly Hastings and J.K. Cortez of Bridgeport, Aleasha Johnston of Springtown, Stephanie Heim and Mike Swan of Springtown, Wendy Messick and husband Adam of Bridgeport; and Destiny Lovejoy of Chico; son Tommy Joe Lovejoy of Chico; 7 grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Katie was preceded in death by father Marvin Wallace Ford; siblings Marvin L. Ford, Tommy Ford, Earl Joe Ford, Danny Ford, and Wanda Trice; grandson Treyton Simmons; and granddaughter Aybrionna Johnston.
