Joyce was born in Friendship, Texas on June 11, 1937. She was the first of three daughters born to Henrietta and Bennie Wentrcek. She graduated from Taylor High School, class of 1955. After watching her walk down Main Street in her multi-layered petticoats and penny loafers, Calvin Wolff crashed into a beer truck and fell instantly in love. They wed on September 2, 1956, and their eternal love began. Joyce and Cal recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. To this union were born a son, Russell, and a daughter, Suzanne. Calvin’s work took them from Austin to Dallas, and Joyce made comforting and inviting homes wherever they lived. She lived a godly life, holding membership at Faith Lutheran Church in Austin, St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Hurst, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, serving on Altar Guild at each. She was involved with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and the Euless and Fort Worth Garden Clubs. During recent weeks, Joyce was given special care by the loving nurses and staff at the Cancer Care Center and Wise Regional Hospital in Decatur for which the family is very grateful.
Joyce’s family was the most important part of her life, and she lives on in the hearts of all she knew. Proverbs 31:28-29: “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. He says, “Many women are good wives, but you are the best of them all.”
Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Bennie, and her brother, Richard.
Joyce is survived by and dearly loved by her husband, Calvin; mother, Henrietta; children, Russell and Rebekah, Suzanne and Steve; granddaughter, Kelly; sisters, JoAnn and Maxine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
