Joshua Paul Slimp

Joshua Paul Slimp, 34, of Bridgeport passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Grapevine, Texas. Services for Josh will be 10:30 am Friday, July 21 in the chapel of Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur, Texas, officiated by Randy Slimp. Burial with Marine Honors will follow in Alvord Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20 from 6-8 pm, also at Jones in Decatur. Pallbearers are Patrick Cox, Josh Jones, Jody Slimp, Micah Slimp, Matthew Slimp, and Jacob Slimp.

Josh was born on March 22, 1983 in Fort Worth, Texas to Danny and Tina (Ferguson) Slimp.  He proudly served our country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. On May 13, 2006 in Paradise, Texas Josh married the love of his life Casey Holley and together they shared eleven wonderful years of marriage. Josh loved being a WATCHdog at the Bridgeport Elementary School. He also enjoyed hunting hogs, shooting guns, coaching youth basketball and playing video games with his kids.

He is survived by his loving wife Casey of Bridgeport; son Hagen Lane Slimp; daughter Kyndal Reese Slimp; parents Danny and Tina Slimp of Bowie; brothers Jody Slimp and wife Morgan, and Micah Slimp and wife Ashley, both of Alvord, and Matthew Slimp and wife Kayla of Bowie; and grandmother Claudette Ferguson of Newark.

Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents Bobby and Verda Slimp, and J.C. Ferguson.
