Memorial services with military honors for Joseph Alvey, Jr., 87, of Springtown, Texas, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas.
Joseph Alvey, Jr. was born on April 5, 1937, in Uniontown, Kentucky, to Joseph Earl, Sr. and Carrie (Collins) Alvey, and passed away on February 8, 2025, in Springtown, Texas, at the age of 87.
Joseph dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country as a proud member of the United States Navy. He rose to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before his well-deserved retirement, and his contributions to the military remain a testament to his character and patriotism.
After retiring from the Navy, Joseph found success as a commercial realtor, where he continued to serve his community in a different capacity. He had a variety of interests that enriched his life, including gardening, fishing, reading, cooking, and dancing.
Joseph’s contributions to both his country and his community will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Sweeney Alvey; sons, Bill Alvey and wife Michelle, Scott Alvey and wife Joan, and Jeff Alvey; daughters, Nancy Shelton, and Amy McKain and husband Paul; grandchildren, Erin Rapach and husband Scott, Brandon Alvey and wife Wendy, Crystal Henry and husband Doug, Ryan Alvey, Joshua Shelton, Shane McKain and wife Whitney, Patrick McKain and wife Danay, Jennifer Shelton, Kyle McKain and wife Kida, Courtney Fox and husband Mike, Jon Alvey, Derek Alvey and wife Ella, and Sarah Hughes and husband Alex; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Joseph is preceded in death by his son, Joe Alvey, III and wife’s, Mary Alvey and Ginger Alvey.
