Graveside services for Johnny Melson, 71, of Decatur, will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 11, at Oak Lawn Cemetery. He passed away on September 5, 2020 in Decatur, Texas.
Johnny was born August 23, 1949 to William Melson and Ethel Lorraine Kidd Melson in Electra, Texas.
He started his adult career by joining the Navy and proudly serving his country. He later retired as a diesel mechanic 9 years ago and has enjoyed life since. He loved to work crossword puzzles, play solitaire, watch the news and feed his birds. He loved yard work, mowing, and weed eating. He loved his grand dog Sophie.
Johnny is survived by wife, Deanna Melson; daughters, Deirdre Moreno, Camille Melson; brothers, Robert Melson, Darrell Boothe; sister, Shelby Paulson; grandchildren, Cassandra Moreno, Mercedes Moreno, and Christopher Moreno along with his other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma June Wooten; and brother, Eddie Shelton.
