Services for John Franklin Taylor, 77, of Chico, Texas will be 10:00 am Monday, February 14, 2022 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas, officiated by Larry Fair. Burial will follow in Cumby Cemetery in Chico. Visitation will be Sunday, February 13, from 4-6 pm, also at the funeral home. John passed away Sunday, February 6 in Decatur, Texas.
He was born December 12, 1944 in Quitman, Mississippi to John Henry and Bessie Mae (Kennedy) Taylor.
John was a welder by trade. He was a hardworking man, who enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to help others. A big jokester, John loved his family, particularly the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a big animal lover. He was known as a man of values and integrity, and taught those traits to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna (Jamison) Taylor of Chico; children Judy Goodwin and husband Perry of Baytown, Texas, Geneva Kemp and husband Ted of Chico; grandchildren Kristina, Michelle and husband Keith, Tamela; great-grandchildren Krysta, Jacob, and Jasper; siblings JC Taylor and wife Barbara of Brandon, Mississippi, Laura Diane Johnson of Clanton, Alabama, Mary Beth Mercer and husband Larry of Gonzales, Texas, Richard Taylor of Saucier, Mississippi, Wayne Taylor and wife Dorothy of Bridgeport, Rebecca Condel and husband Alvin of Gonzales, Jane Stephens and husband Dale of Heflin, Alabama, and Carla Taylor of Heflin; uncle A. E. (Jake) Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Christine Herbert Tripp, and nephew Jason Clark Stewart.
