John Cortez

John G. Cortez, 78, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 at home. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Father Jacob Alvares officiated. Burial was in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Jones Family Funeral Home. John was born on March 20, 1934 in Winters, Texas to Carlotta Govea and Juan Villanueva Cortez. He married Juanita Martinez from Ballinger, Texas on July 11, 1954. He was a retired contractor. When he and his family moved to Bridgeport in 1969 from Plainview, Texas, he brought seven other families with him to help with his construction business. He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years; son John K. Cortez and Amberly of Bridgeport; daughters Margaret G. Cortez of Dallas, Texas, Sandra Burson and husband James of Bridgeport, and Christina Zielinski and husband Henry of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren Jonathan Clay Cortez and wife Michelle, Kandace Lee Cortez, Olivia Nicole Burson, Nathan Todd Burson, Madison Nicole Cortez, Mackenzie Ryan Cortez, Alexa Brynn Zielinski, Kevin Jeyton Cortez, and Maxim John Zielinski; and one great-grandchild Kaiden Sean Cortez. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Macario.
