John Larry Byers

Graveside services for John Larry Byers, 68, of Chico, Texas, will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 25, 2023, at Eastside Cemetery in Bridgeport. Pastor Rocky Johnson will officiate. Pallbearers will include Cooper Byers, Dustin Byers, Johnathan Davis, Zane Holland, Chris Harrison, and Jerry Strain. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Sunday, September 24, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. 

Born January 18, 1955, in Bridgeport, Texas, to Johnnie and Dimple (Bean) Byers, John lived a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a much beloved father and grandfather who will be dearly missed following his passing September 19, 2023.

John had an impressive career that spanned many years. He retired from Devon Energy, leaving a lasting impact on the company and its associates. Prior to that, he also worked for JC3 Trucking where he showcased a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. John's dedication and reliability made him well respected in both professional endeavors.

Outside of his career, John had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life; he found solace in mowing the lawn, taking pride in keeping his surroundings beautiful. A helpful nature resonated within him, as he always made sure to lend a hand to others whenever he could. Above all else, though, spending time with his children and grandchildren was what truly brought him happiness.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Nathan Byers and wife Hayley, Colby Byers and wife Larisa, Tommy Maddux and wife Cathy, John Maddux and wife Sharifa; daughter Leslie Maddux; brothers Kenneth Paul Byers and wife Tamme; numerous grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Brantly and Dimple Byers, and daughter, Natalie Lachelle Byers.
