Funeral services for Jody George Brown, 71, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 11 AM Monday, March 4, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas, and visitation will be held 5-7 PM Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, with full honors. Pastor Michael Ramirez will officiate.   

Pallbearers will include: Tallan Miller, Dave Pfluger, Chris Fraizer, John Uhler, James Briley, and Kevin Hawkins.

Jody George Brown, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired military veteran passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family, February 27, 2024. He was born on November 7, 1952, to Clark and Charlene (Daniel) Brown in Vernon, Texas

Throughout his distinguished 30-year military career, Jody was recognized for his exceptional service with honors including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Through his selfless service, he exemplified the true spirit of patriotism and sacrifice.

Outside of his military career, Jody was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in playing the guitar and singing, or as he liked to put it, "pickin & grinnin". His love for music brought happiness to many, and his talent will be greatly missed. Jody was also fondly known as a “proud Aggie Dad and Grandpa” and “Rodeo Grandpa.” He always cheered on his loved ones in their endeavors. Additionally, he had a knack for building and working on projects, especially for his grandkids, and took pride in being the “leader of his neighborhood.”

Those left to cherish Jody’s memory are his loving wife of 51 years Linda Brown; daughter Susan Coffman and husband Mike of Bridgeport, Texas; stepsons Craig Briley of Graford, Texas, Kenny Briley of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Kevin Briley and wife Annette of Boerne, Texas; brother Jack Brown and wife Melinda of Goree, Texas; sisters Cloma Thompson and husband Jim of Santa Fe, Texas, and Sharon Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren Tallan and Bristyn Miller of Bridgeport, Texas, James Briley and wife Jessica of Abilene, Texas, Stephanie McMichael and husband Tim of Fort Worth, Texas, Richard and Savannah Briley of Boerne, Texas, Kody Briley of Moorehead, Minnesota, Matthew Allen of Boerne, Texas, Heather Herrera and husband Nick of Eastland, Texas, Amanda Clement and husband Tyler of Cisco, Texas, Brianna Coffman of Fort Worth, Texas, Felicia Cloke of Fort Worth, Texas, Michael Coffman of Phoenix, Arizona, James Coffman and wife Retta of Denton, Texas, and Samantha Gibbs and wife Nicci of Orlando, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.   

 

Jody is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jesse (Pete) Brown.
