A graveside memorial service for Jo Lavelle Mercer, 89, of Chico, Texas will be 10:00 am, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Crafton Cemetery in Crafton, Texas, officiated by Pastor Joey Vick. She passed away April 1 in Decatur, Texas.
Jo was born May 8, 1931 to Claude and Mabel (Jones) Stockard in Crafton, Texas. She married the love of her life, Marvin Mercer, in 1967. Jo was a beautician for 50-plus years. She loved spending time with her family and cooking big meals with lots of sweets for everyone. She spent years trail riding with her husband and kids.
She is survived by daughters Linda (Blocker) Barnett of Chico, Marla Mercer of Bridgeport, Texas, Becky Watkins and husband Mike of Sanger, Texas; sons Ronnie Blocker, Juan Mercer of Bridgeport, and Jimmy Mercer and wife Tina of Bridgeport; grandchildren Cheryl Everett and husband Matt of Arlington, Texas, Brandon Deaton and wife Kati of Chico, Shaun Minton and wife Angella of Ohio, Shannon Blocker and wife Sherry of Jacksonville; and many more bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin Mercer, daughters Kay Loftis and Marsha Cantrell, grandson Tim Cobb, and seven siblings.
