Jimmy Wright

Services for Jimmy ‘Lightning’ Wright, 83, of Bridgeport, Texas will be 10:00 am Friday, September 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, officiated by Dr. Craig Erb and Chaplain Brad. Burial will follow in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, September 20 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Jimmy passed away Tuesday, September 18 at home.

Lightning was born September 24, 1934 in Paradise, Texas to Paul and Jewell (Buckingham) Wright. He was a farmer and rancher in Bridgeport He married his wife, Peggy Huckabee on April 19, 1957. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.

He enjoyed attending church, going to the sale barn every Monday, rodeos, and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by wife Peggy Wright of Bridgeport; daughter Carol Freeman and husband Steve of Bridgeport; son Marty Wright and wife Vicki of Purmela, Texas; sisters Genevieve Matthews of Weatherford, Texas, Imogene Preston of Cummings, Georgia, and sister Charniece Jasper and husband Charles of Jacksonville, Texas; granddaughters Whitney Freeman of Bridgeport, Maggie Wright of Stephenville, Texas, and Blair Bermudez and husband Lemo of Purmela; great-grandchildren Madison Wright and Jacob Bermudez, both of Purmela; several nieces and nephews, a host of friends, and daughter Darlene Graton, husband Jim and children Nash and Tera.

Lightning was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommy Wright, and sister Eva Lee Cook.
