Jimmy Reed

Jimmy Reed 78, of Bridgeport passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery also in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Brother Bill Cleveland will be officiating. Pallbearers are Keith Bryan, Steven Lara, Seth Weatherly, Colby Burdine, Doug Bridwell, Waylon Barclay. Jimmy was born on March 25, 1938 in Hillsboro, Texas to Elbert and Lorene (Blackwood) Reed. Jim entered into the Marine Corp at age 19 where he was a LCpl. He married Cathy Scrogum in Dallas, Texas on December 13,1975. He worked for Liquid Energy-Mitchell for 15 years starting out as an Operator then moved on to Purchasing. He was a member and Commander of the Chico VFW, and the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. He enjoyed playing Golf and hunting pheasant and deer, but what Jim loved most in his life was his family always putting them first above everything else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing with them. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years; Daughter Stephanie Burdine and husband Cody; Sister Clarice Caldwell; Grandchildren Colby Burdine, Emily Burdine, Shelby Barclay, and Benjamin Burdine. A special nephew Chuck Reed. He preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dalton Reed and sister Mina Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Veterans Service Organizations
