Funeral Services for Jimmy Ray Pewitt, 82, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Wilson Prairie Cemetery in Paradise. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the funeral home. J.R. Smith and Kendall Dethloff will be officiating.
Pallbearers will include Kendall Dethloff, Kelton Dethloff, Leon Dethloff, Jacob Morris, Christopher Morris, and Mace Pierson.
Jimmy Ray Pewitt was born on December 28, 1941, to Claude and Anna (Furter) Pewitt, in Ryan, Oklahoma, and peacefully passed away on July 2, 2024, in Paradise, Texas. He attended Bridgeport Independent School District before proudly serving his country in the US Army. Jimmy married Shirley Ann (Heath) Pewitt in Bridgeport, Texas, on July 5, 1963, and was happily married for 60 years until his passing.
Jimmy dedicated an impressive 46 years of his life to Upham Oil & Gas, where he served as a field supervisor before his well-deserved retirement.
During his time at Upham Oil & Gas, Jimmy's dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Aside from his successful career, Jimmy found joy in hobbies such as gardening and woodworking. He also cherished moments spent with his beloved family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the hearts of his surviving family members and friends.
Those left to cherish Jimmy’s memory are his wife, Shirley Ann Pewitt; son, Jimmy Dave Pewitt of Waurika, Oklahoma; daughters, Teresa Pewitt of Bridgeport, Texas, and Robin Dethloff and husband Leon of Paradise, Texas; brother, Melvin Pewitt and wife Lanelle of Alvord, Texas; sister, Sylvia Richardson and husband Joe of Paradise, Texas; sister-in-law, Pat Pewitt of Mineral Wells, Texas; grandchildren, Danielle Pierson and husband Mace of Paradise, Texas, Jacob Morris and girlfriend Twylla of Decatur, Texas, Kendall Dethloff and wife Rikki of Paradise, Texas, and Kelton Dethloff and wife Jillian of Paradise, Texas; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Coy, Rylie, Randi, Lilli, and another on the way; and a host of friends and family.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin Lee Pewitt of Ryan, Oklahoma, and Claude Pewitt of Mineral Wells, Texas; and stepfather Red Dukes of Allison, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paradise Church of Christ Building Fund.
