Jerry Loyd Jackson, 71, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at in the Chapel at Jones Funeral Home in Bridgeport with interment at Wilson Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson was born October 8, 1941 in Gatesville, Texas to Lillian (Wittie) and E. L. Jackson. He grew up in Hico, Texas and knew Brushy Bill Roberts (aka Billy the Kid) before his death in 1950. His family moved to Pecos, Texas where he met and married Mary Frances Hale on October 26, 1959. He and Frances moved to Wise County in 1965 where they raised their four children and he worked in the oilfield, eventually starting and running his own oilfield business.
He is survived by his wife, their four children Randell, Ricky, Rhonda, and Reda; son-in-laws Tony Henry and Jeff Horner; sisters Earnestine Cauble and husband James of Katy, Texas, Pauline Faubion and husband Rex of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mary Peacock and husband Loyd of Lovington, New Mexico; brother-in-law Wayne Dorsett of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Marie Dorsett and brother Alton Jackson.
