Jerry Burk

Jerry (J.T.) Thurman Burk, 66, of Richland, Texas went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Chancellor and Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur with burial to follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Jerry was born to Marshall and Leona Spain Burk on August 19, 1949, in Decatur, Texas. He was a retired teacher and coach. Over the last two years, he became an aspiring author with novels soon to be published. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas. He is survived by wife, Joyce Terrell Burk; sons, Matthew Burk and wife Rose, Sandon Miller and wife Stephanie, Wayne Westbrook and wife Mary; daughters, Sabra Miller, Sheryl Davis and husband James, Bethany Aguado and husband Phillip; brother Steve Burk of Decatur, 21 grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scott Miller.
