Services for Jerald Ray Shawn, 72, of Bridgeport, Texas will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Balsora Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Sonny Smith. Burial will follow at Willow Point Cemetery, located southwest of Bridgeport. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday, January 26 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Jerald passed away Saturday, January 23 at home.
He was born January 17, 1949 in Bridgeport to parents James Eldon Shawn and wife Della Ola (Gray) Shawn.
Jerald was a truckdriver for M.E.C. in Bridgeport for ten years. He worked for Mitchell Energy for many years.
He was a member of Balsora Baptist Church.
He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He also enjoyed exploring area flea markets, and playing dominoes.
Jerald leaves behind his wife Peggy (Justice) Shawn of Bridgeport; son Billy Shawn and wife Amber of Bridgeport; daughters Serrena Hamilton and husband Bryan of Bridgeport; sisters Gracie DeLay of Bridgeport, Lenda Ferguson of Bridgeport, and Sarah Jackson; grandchildren Justin Hamilton and wife Kyla McDaniel, Brady Hamilton, Matthew Shawn, and Bradley Meredith; great-grandchildren Bria and Braxton Hamilton; and numerous other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Della Shawn, first wife Nelda Shawn, and brothers, Billy, Bobby, James Jr., Jimmy Wayne Shawn, and Donny Shawn.
