Services for James Culver Weston, 92, of Boyd, Texas will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by J.H. Roper and Lupe Batterton. Burial will follow in Garvin Cemetery in Boyd. Pallbearers are Joe Lyn Galloway, Lonnie Galloway, Jerry Harrison, Ricky Finley, Richard Norwood, and Mike Flowers. Honorary pallbearer is Leon Colman. Visitation will be Friday, August 12 from 6-8 pm, also at Jones. Weston passed away at home two days before his 93rd birthday, Wednesday, August 10.
He was born August 12, 1923 in Fort Worth, Texas to James Arthur and Mary Obel (Adams) Weston. He was a corporal in the US Army, and served as a combat engineer during WWII. James had lived in Wise County since 1958, and worked for 20-plus years at Lockheed-Martin in Fort Worth as a tool designer. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge #942 in Fort Worth.
He was a member of the Family Evangel Outreach in Fort Worth. And he enjoyed raising cattle and horses.
He leaves behind his wife Nina Jean (Finley) Weston of Boyd; nephews Richard Norwood and wife Deborah of Hurst, Bill Read, and Jimmy Norwood and wife Saundra, both of Fort Worth; nieces Sue Seals of Round Rock, Texas, Shirley Norwood of Hurst, and Janie Garrison; and great-niece Veronica ‘Nikki’ Parkinson and husband Scott.
James was preceded in death by his first wife Daisy Lee Dunivan, brother John G. Weston, and sisters Eula Grady, Laurene Read, and Marie Norwood.
