Ingrid Hildegarde Mueller Crawley, 78, of Runaway Bay, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Denton. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm Sunday, March 1 in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Gerald Epperson.
Ingrid was born September 1, 1936 in Peterswalde, Germany to Fritz and Hilda (Gretche) Mueller. After high school graduation in Germany, in her teen years and early twenties, she traveled to many places and worked in a resort on the Isle of Amrum and then as an au pair in Sweden before returning home and marrying American soldier Gilbert James Crawley in Ludwigshafen, Germany in March 1958. They settled in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois and had four children. They moved to Bridgeport in 1965 where Ingrid lived until her passing.
She was a cook for many restaurants, including the Yacht Club at Runaway Bay in the 70s. Before retiring she managed the cafeteria at Bridgeport Elementary School.
She’d been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bridgeport since 1965. Her hobbies included cooking, working in her beautiful yard and flowers, vegetable gardening, and Facebook.
She is survived by sons James Gilbert Crawley of Runaway Bay, and Thomas David Crawley of Arlington, Texas; daughters Debra Crawley Wilson of Runaway Bay, and Elaine Crawley Cobb and husband Dennis of Decatur; brother Leopold Lang of Langenheide, Germany; sisters Vera E. Raeuchle of Ludwigshafen, Germany, Annelise E. Summer of Altrip, Germany, and Renate H. Mueller, also of Altrip, Germany; grandchildren Randi Eyster and husband Randy, Natalie Cobb, Clint Wilson and wife Natalie, Brandon Cobb, Charissa Sheffield and husband Gerell, Eillischa Crawley, and Jared Crawley; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents of Ludwigshafen, Germany, and her childrens’ father Gilbert Crawley of Arlington, Texas.
