Services for Harold “Hal” Raymond Griffin, 76, of Alvord will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Chancellor and Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur, officiated by Deacon Eldon Gray of St. Johns Catholic Church of Bridgeport. Burial will follow in Cumby Cemetery in Chico. Pallbearers are Robert McNutt, Matt Fenoglio, Tommy McNutt and Stephen McNutt. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday, August 10, also at Chancellor and Jones. Harold passed away Friday, August 7 in Decatur. He was born December 11, 1938 to Harry and Dorothy (Burke) Griffin in Jersey City, New Jersey. On September 21, 1958 in Van Nuys, California, Harold married Carole Ann Norheim. He was Director of Operations for the Northrop Grumman Corporation, a company where he worked for 41 years. Harold enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, particularly bass fishing, or ranching, where he bred longhorn cattle. In his younger days, Harold was quite an athlete. He enjoyed boxing and all kinds of sports. He excelled in baseball as a pitcher, where he went on to play in the Minor Leagues. He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Carole Griffin of Alvord, Texas; daughters Kimberly McNutt and husband Robert of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and Christine Carroll and husband Chuck of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren Carrie Flangan, Angie Steen, Stephen McNutt, Elizabeth McNutt, Hannah McNutt, Daniel Griffin, and Tiffany Fenoglio; great-grandchildren Alex Nolan, Jeremiah Nolan, Timothy Nolan, Krissy Nolan, and Emma Fenoglio. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Tim Griffin.
