Harold Eugene Ganus, 73, of Chico, Texas passed away Friday, September 12, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Pastor Barney Hudson will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, September 15, 2014 at the funeral home.
Gene was born September 5, 1941 in Fairfield, Alabama to Alpha Eloise (Meadows) and Harold Floyd Ganus. He married Peggy Sue Sistrunk on September 2, 1979 in Baytown, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a master mechanist who retired from LTV in Grand Prairie, Texas. He also was a pastor and a member of Anconkee Ministries in Chico, Texas, where he conducted church services at his home. Gene was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Alvord Masonic Lodge. He was a musician who played the piano, wrote music, and sang. Most of all, he was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by his wife; sons Brady Ganus of Bridgeport, Carey Ganus and wife Anna of Springtown, Texas, and Brandon Ganus of Chico; daughter Melody Mabe of Baytown, Texas; brother Paul Ganus of Garland, Texas; grandchildren Keaton, Ashton, Jordyn, Elijah, and Brandon Ganus, Jr., and Nathan Mabe; and great-grandchildren Aidan Pickering and Hunter Mabe.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
