George Johnson Hogue, 66, of Bridgeport, Texas died Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Denton, Texas, of complications from intestinal cancer. He will be remembered at a memorial service at 6:30 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2012, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will follow from 7:00 - 8:00 PM. A private interment will be held at a later date.
George was born November 22, 1945 in Altus, Oklahoma,to Ralph S. and Freddie B. (Johnson) Hogue. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1964. George married Waynda O'Dell in Bridgeport, Texason November 24, 1967. He worked most of his life as an electrician at Mitchell Energy in Wise County, Texas. He retired from Bridgeport Tank Trucks in 2010. He was a member of the Australasian Order of Old Bastards, a fraternal organization based in Australia with members throughout the world. He was an avid Ham radio operator. He taught himself electronics and worked with home computers, beginning with a HeathKit computer he built in his garage. He was also actively involved in shooting sports and hand loading.
George is survived by his wife; one daughter, Jenny Kimball of Grand Prairie; his mother, Freddie Hogue of Dexter, Missouri; one brother, James Hogue and his wife Rayla of Clarksburg, Missouri; and nephew Jimtu Hogue of Clarksburg. He is also survived by two grand-dogs, Wolfgang Spartikus and Bluebonnet Sage; three grand-cats, Rasputin Earl, Samuel Thomas, and Freddie Roger, as well as several canine, feline, and equine nieces and nephews of Clarksburg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph S. Hogue and his maternal grandparents, Vick and Faye Johnson.
