Gene Moody

Perry Eugene “Gene” Moody 58, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 7, 2017 at his home in Crafton. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Gene was born on July 7, 1959 to Louis and Nona Pearl Moody. He attended Chico area schools during the day, working the family farm in the evening. In later years, he worked as a roughneck, a rig hand, and truck driver before entering the concrete business. By the time he retired, he was owner of Gene Moody Concrete Construction.

All who knew him describe Gene as a good, and honest man. He worked hard, helped others and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was active and fun-loving, with a sparkle in his eye and a grin on his lips. He was quick to tell a joke or toss a horseshoe. When he wasn’t watching Marshall dillion or Cheyenne Brodie on television, he was hunting, fishing playing poker, telling tall tales, or indulging in an ice cold beer. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, shooting pool, playing dominoes, driving fast, raising game birds, taking a turn on the dance floor, and building bonfires in the backyard. He also loved hunting for copperhead snakes.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glenn and Shorty and triplet sisters Mae, Fay and Kay.

His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of the many who loved him. Those left behind include Gene’s son Wesley Moody and girlfriend Jamie Isenberg; stepchildren Monty Forbus, Levi Forbus, Sherry Blair, Skipper Martin, Jacob Moody and Rachel Moody.

Survivors also include brothers James Moody, Dale Moody, Leon Moody and wife Teresa; sisters Thelma Thompson, Nora Lee Hood and husband Lott, Rosie Thompson, Doris Jenkins Sherry Brown, Hattie Hale and husband Dale, Nancy McCasland and husband Mike and Carandy Guinn and husband Johnny, and a special friend Chuy; a slew of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and more friends than can be counted. His love of life will live on in the hearts and memories of all
