Gene Paul Cansler

Gene Paul Cansler, 76, of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 in Bridgeport. Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Pastor Mike Wiltcher. Burial will follow in West Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, January 25 from 6-8 pm, also at Jones. Pallbearers are Freddy Winebrinner, Joshua Winebrinner, Zackery Winebrinner, Jimmy Brian, Cameron Brian, and Lane Brian. Gene was born November 3, 1940 in Bridgeport to Earl and Dollie (Houchins) Cansler. Gene was a man devoted to his wife. A man with also a deep love for his grandchildren, he was an avid storyteller who also enjoyed fishing and cooking. He leaves behind children Angie Cunningham, Gene Cansler, Jr., Sandi Winebrinner, Freddy and wife Bobbie Jo Winebrinner, and Terresa Price; siblings Linda Freeman and husband Jimmy, R.E. ‘Buck’ Houchins, Kenneth ‘PeeWee’ Cansler and wife Barbara, Sherry Crowell and husband Tom, Rick Cansler, and Lynn Cansler; grandchildren Bobby, Tamara, Missy, Rachael, Michele, Olivia, Joshua, Zackery, Tabbitha, Amy, Brian, and James; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma (Pollock) Cansler, son Bobby Winebrinner, and brother Terry Silveria.
