Faye Weatherford, 91, of Bridgeport, Texas passed from this life into the presence of her Lord, her family and many friends on September 4th 2015. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Dr. Craig Erb will officiate. Visitation will be from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
She was born on November 24, 1923 in Montague County to George and Myrtle Barclay Moss but spent most of her life in Wise County – Chico, Rhome, Boyd and Bridgeport. She was married for 63 years to George Euford Weatherford. They lived on West side of Bridgeport in the same house they bought in 1953. That house and yard were her hobby.
She loved her church – First Baptist in Bridgeport. She had the gift of service and served in the kitchen, clothes closet and Vacation Bible School. She loved visiting shut-ins and had creative ways of drawing the attention of people’s needs to the church. She worked as a nurse for 11 years at the Bridgeport Hospital. Mostly, she was a homemaker taking care of her family and elderly neighbors. In 1977 she and Euford were voted Best Neighbor in a contest sponsored by the Wise County Messenger.
She was always busy, up early, never napping. She enjoyed the Rangers and Cowboys. She did not particularly like cooking, but she made great coconut cream and pecan pies.
Faye suffered from dementia and its effect on her body. Her time at Trudy’s house was spent sweeping, dusting and ironing. She folded the laundry until all she could do was stack it. She was just “compact energy” and is no doubt already sweeping the “streets of gold”.
She is survived by her daughter Trudy and son-in-law Norman Nicholson of Plano, Texas and their 3 daughters and their families, step-son Joe Paul Weatherford and wife Mary Lou of Dimmitt, Texas and their 2 sons and 2 daughters and their families.
