Funeral services for Estelle Seely, 85, of Decatur, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Decatur, with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Pastor Matthew Gage will officiate.
Mary Estelle (Edwards) Seely was the seventh child born to Robert Ellison and Emma Lucinda (Nix) Edwards on December 28. 1939. She had a new birth while in the Primary Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas. Soon afterward, she followed her Lord in Baptism.
On March 10, 1961, she married Vernon Ray Newman. This union was blessed with the birth of Norma Lou, Laura Sue, and Obie Lee. They were her greatest accomplishments.
On December 23, 1983, she married Jack Seely. For 26 years, four months, and seven days they enjoyed trail rides, and parades, as well as their families and church families.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lottie Bell Williams, Paula Mae Horrell, and Immonell Byers; two brothers, Melvin Jim Fullwood and Robert Lee Edwards; and a great-grandson.
Surviving her is one sister, Barbara Dell Surley and husband Eldon of North Richland Hills; daughters, Norma Lou Patterson and husband Curtis, and Laura Sue Smith and husband Kenny; one son, Obie Lee Newman; six grandchildren, T.J. and Ethan Brewster, Joshua and Jared Smith, Ashley Newman, Stacy Driver, and Stephanie Newberry.
